Barbara spent most of her working life as an actress and first appeared on television in 1948 working alongside Richard Hearn in 'Mr Pastry'. One of her proudest moments was staring in the film 'Oranges are not the only fruit" where she says she got to play a 'nice' character for a change. She has worked with many great actors including, Albert Finney, Laurence Olivier, Michael Gambon, John Gielgud and Anthony Hopkins. She states that one of the happiest moments in her life was giving birth to her only child, a son, when she was 45.
