Booking
The best way is to telephone me, on 01787 474923 to discuss what it is you are looking for, we can then discuss a suitable time and date for the portrait session to take place and confirm a booking. Alternatively you can contact me via the contact form and I can get back to you.
The £60 booking fee will need to be paid on the day of your photography session, for all orders of prints, wall art, etc, then these will be paid for at the time of your order.
The Portrait Session
This is your photo shoot so the choice of location is yours. We could photograph at my home studio in Gosfield. We could photograph at your home, or at a place that you enjoy as a family such as a local park, the beach, the woods, or a combination of locations. We have several hours to play with and so we can easily fit in more than one location if we want to.
I usually allow one to two hours, chances are it won't take that long but equally it may take a little longer, it’s always best to remain flexible. I find that not rushing means we can get people relaxed, and usually produce more relaxed natural photos.
Planning ahead for your special day
If it is raining, then we'll photograph indoors and we will still get lots of lovely photographs. I often find that I will spend half the shoot indoors and half outside whatever the weather, and there is a lot of fun to be had from dressing in waterproofs and jumping in puddles.
The easy answer is whatever you feel comfortable in but here are some general pointers:
· You don’t all need to match but you should wear colours which complement each other. If three of you wear dark colours and one of you wears bright yellow then eyes will be drawn to the person in yellow who will dominate the photograph.
· Avoid large bold patterns, logos or graphics, these draw attention away from the face and can date the photograph very quickly. Children look great in bright colours, hats and scarves always look good. For variation bring along cardigans, jumpers or changes of clothes.
· Don't forget the socks! – I may ask you to take your shoes off as they can damage the background material so do avoid the old favourites with the big toe sticking through or comedy / bright coloured ones as these will distract the viewer.
· Avoid bold patterns - spots stripes of vivid floral prints can again detract from the subjects faces.
· Guys – please do shave an hour or two before the shoot, unless you want to go for the stubbly rock star designer look of course!
I have had a situation where the children came down with a bug during the sitting, so understandably didn't want to co-operate.
Don't worry, if the pictures don't work out, for whatever reason, we can arrange to do a re-shoot at a later date.
After the portrait session
We need a little time to prepare the photographs, generally 3 -4 days. Once they're done we'll give you a call and arrange a time and place to present them to you. You can then choose your prints, frames or albums and we'll deliver your choices to you within 2-3 weeks.
It is no problem to remove the superficial spots and scratches that are an everyday occurrence in people’s lives. This will be included as a matter of course before photographs are printed. We are also able to offer a more detailed post production techniques such as softening skin and beauty techniques or to apply artistic effects, These should be discussed directly and a price can be agreed.
